On January 11, 2018 at the headquarter of the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation was organized a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the World Maritime Day Parallel Event 2018 with the participation of Anna Moskwa, Undersecretary of State.
The representatives of the Ministry presented the state of preparations for this year's celebrations of the World Maritime Day, organised by the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation in cooperation with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialised organisation of the United Nations system. The event will take place on June 13-15 in Szczecin. The meeting was attended by the presidents of the Maritime Ports of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Szczecin-Świnoujście, rectors of the Gdynia Maritime University and the Maritime University in Szczecin, the director of the Maritime Office in Szczecin, as well as representatives of the Polish Steamship Company (Polsteam), MS TFI S.A., Polskie Terminale S.A. (Polish Terminals S.A.) and Maritime Cluster of Western Pomerania.
The participants discussed, inter alia, the proposals of the leading topics around which the World Maritime Day Parallel Event 2018 is to be organised: green shipping, connected shipping, digital security, modern ships, and arctic route, and which topics were presented by the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation.
The representatives of the Ministry expressed their conviction that the event would be part of this year's celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland's independence, and that it would be a very good opportunity to promote abroad the image of the country and the Polish potential in the sector related to maritime affairs.
